What Are Implant-Supported Dentures?
Implant-supported dentures combine the stability and chewing function of implants with the affordability of dentures.

Dentures that securely combine implants and dentures to improve chewing strength! Conventional dentures can cause gum pain and discomfort, such as not being securely fixed in place. Implant-supported dentures address these drawbacks by securely attaching dentures using implants. In addition, because they are fitted using a small number of implants and connecting attachments, they can provide more than 80% of the chewing function of natural teeth—something not achievable with conventional dentures—resulting in high patient satisfaction.
Benefits of Implant-Supported Dentures
✓ Stability
Unlike conventional dentures, they are firmly secured and do not come loose.
✓ Chewing Function
They provide chewing function nearly comparable to that of natural teeth.
✓ Less Foreign-Body Sensation
Unlike conventional dentures, they do not cover the palate, resulting in less foreign-body sensation.
✓ Clear Pronunciation
They are smaller than conventional dentures, so they do not interfere with pronunciation.
✓ Simple Procedure
The procedure can be performed simply even for patients with systemic conditions.
✓ Reduced Cost Burden
Because only a small number of implants are needed, the financial burden is reduced.
Comparison of Implant-Supported Dentures and Conventional Dentures
Implant-Supported Dentures
Fixation method: Dentures are secured after placing 2–4 implants.
Stability: Strong, without interference with eating or speaking
Chewing function: 60–70% of natural teeth
Jawbone loss: Placed implants help prevent jawbone resorption
Comfort: The palate is open, reducing foreign-body sensation and improving pronunciation
Lifespan: Replacement and repair depend on device wear and gum shape
Conventional Dentures
Fixation method: Rest on the gums and remaining teeth
Stability: Weak and easily dislodged
Chewing function: 10–20% of natural teeth
Jawbone loss: Jawbone resorption occurs with long-term use
Comfort: Covering the palate causes a strong foreign-body sensation and stuffiness
Lifespan: Long-term replacement and repair according to the rate of gum resorption
When Implant-Supported Dentures Are Needed

❶ For people with conventional (full) dentures whose dentures feel burdensome, shift around, or easily come loose from the gums
❷ When the cost and treatment period of implants are burdensome
❸ When long-term denture use has caused jawbone resorption requiring bone grafting
