If harvesting is concentrated in only one area, the back of the head may appear sparse. Therefore, the procedure is performed with consideration of the overall density according to each individual's donor area.

FAQ

Q. Is hair transplantation possible even if the donor area has low density?

A. Hair transplantation is possible even if the hair density at the back of the head is low. However, compared with individuals with higher density, the number of hairs that can be transplanted may be limited, so the result may feel less dense. In many cases, however, the number of transplanted hairs remains within the normal range, making surgery sufficiently feasible.

Q. Will incisional hair transplantation leave a scar?

A. To safely harvest a large number of healthy follicles, the incised scalp is sutured after harvesting, and the suture line may remain as a scar. However, it is usually hidden among the hair and is not easily visible.

Q. Do I need to continue taking hair loss medication after transplantation?

A. Transplanted hair is not affected by hormones and is not associated with hair loss, but the remaining existing hair may continue to undergo hair loss. Over time, even if the transplanted hair placed between the existing hairs does not fall out, the loss of existing hair due to hair loss may make the density appear reduced.

Q. How many hair transplant procedures are needed?

A. It varies depending on the patient's condition. Many patients are satisfied with one procedure, but some undergo up to two or three procedures.

Q. Will the transplanted hair not fall out?

A. Yes. However, hair loss may progress in areas other than the surgical site, so combining treatment with medication is recommended.

Q. When will the hair start growing normally?

A. Transplanted hair begins to shed 2 weeks after surgery and may continue shedding until 3 months. It then gradually begins to grow again. It takes approximately 9 to 10 months to achieve a reasonably satisfactory result.
