Which canthoplasty is right for me?

1. Medial Epicanthoplasty

This procedure is performed when the distance between the eyes is wide and the epicanthal fold covers the lacrimal caruncle. The incision is designed to be hidden behind the epicanthal fold in the upper portion and attached to the palpebral fissure in the lower portion, minimizing visible scarring.

Step 03 | Epicanthal Fold Incision

The epicanthal fold is incised toward the inner eye according to the medial canthus.

Step 04 | Suturing

2. Upper Epicanthoplasty

Upper Epicanthoplasty

This procedure extends the removal of the epicanthal fold performed in medial epicanthoplasty upward, allowing the double eyelid line to be visible from the inner corner.

Careful excision is necessary to prevent an unnatural postoperative result.

The epicanthal fold is incised toward the inner eye according to the medial canthus.

Step 04 | Suturing

Sutures are placed toward the inner eye so that the incision line (scar) is not visible.

3. Lateral Canthoplasty

There are two methods of lateral canthoplasty. They differ according to the degree of modification of the lateral canthal tendon: one method widens the outer portion of the eye by tying both ends of the lateral canthal tendon through an incision of 5 mm or less, while the other releases the lateral canthal tendon and lowers and lengthens it.

The precise incision location and length are designed, and the lateral canthus is incised.

Step 03 | Fixation to the Lateral Canthal Periosteum and Suturing

After dissection, the existing outer corner of the eye is fixed to the periosteum, lengthened, and sutured.

Step 04 | After Surgery

Longer, brighter-looking eyes are achieved.

4. Lower Canthoplasty

The lower eyelid retractors are identified and a portion is excised to shorten them. Swelling is minimal, and because the procedure is similar to eye shape correction in double eyelid surgery, it looks natural when opening and closing the eyes. The shape and degree of correction can be adjusted from the medial canthus to near the lateral canthus, making it applicable to various eye shapes.

Step 03 | Lower Canthoplasty

Lower canthoplasty is performed by repositioning the outer corner of the eye to the desired location.

Step 04 | Suturing

After secure fixation, meticulous suturing is performed.

5. Dual Canthoplasty

An incision is made at the point where the upper and lower eyelids meet at the outer corner of the eye, followed by suturing to the inner conjunctiva. The incision is placed carefully to avoid injuring the tendon that supports the eye shape at the outer corner.
