Who needs Mini Contour Lifting?

By removing unnecessary fat along the jawline or beneath the chin (double chin), this procedure helps reveal the hidden facial contour. Facial contours are determined not only by the facial skeleton but also by various factors, including fat layers and muscles. While the facial skeleton forms the frame of the face, the visible facial contour is also influenced by various soft tissues above it, including the skin, fat, fascia, and muscle layers. HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) treatment first provides a firming effect through tissue contraction and subsequently produces a lifting effect through the internal wound-healing process. Healite Laser Treatment Is Standard After Surgery

❶ Low-output 590 nm light is first applied to the epidermal layer to facilitate delivery of healing wavelengths to the skin, followed by 830 nm infrared wavelengths with deeper penetration and strong healing properties.

A. Yes. When thread lifting and facial liposuction are performed together, they provide greater facial contour improvement and lifting of sagging tissue than when performed separately. Because results may also last longer, we recommend combining the procedures.

Q. Which areas are treated?

A. Mini Contour Lifting combines thread lifting and facial liposuction. Rather than being intended for severe aging, it is designed to focus on correcting specific concerns such as jawline sagging, a double chin, and sagging cheeks when these symptoms are localized. If the sagging area is broad or severe, additional thread lifting or facial liposuction areas may be included with Mini Contour Lifting.

Q. How significant is the lifting effect?

A. When there is a large amount of fat in the treatment area, lifting and securing sagging facial tissue with thread lifting alone may result in reduced fixation due to the weight and thickness of the fat. Conversely, if facial liposuction alone is performed, the remaining skin after fat removal may lose elasticity and sag easily. Therefore, lifting procedures are often recommended in combination with thread lifting and facial liposuction. Mini Contour Lifting is a treatment program designed for lifting and contour improvement in localized areas.

Q. How many threads are inserted?

A. We use Epiticon threads patented and developed by Dr. Jeong Young-choon, Chief Director of our clinic. Although Epiticon is an absorbable thread, its strength, lifting force, and fixation strength are suitable even for lifting heavier tissue, so many threads do not need to be inserted. In typical thread lifting, approximately 10 threads are used for each area of the jaw and cheeks. Since Mini Contour Lifting is performed with facial liposuction in more localized areas, fewer threads are used, and the appropriate number is determined through evaluation. Some patients believe that more threads are necessarily better, but achieving good improvement with fewer threads is the lifting approach pursued at Hershe, as it may result in less post-procedure pain and foreign-body sensation.

Q. How long do the results last?

A. The effects from the area where facial fat has been removed may be considered permanent, while thread lifting has a semi-permanent nature because the degree of adhesion of lifted skin tissue varies by individual. If facial liposuction is not combined, there is a greater concern that threads may break before tissues adhere sufficiently after thread lifting, or that the cogs may dissolve and tissue may sag again. The thread material also significantly affects longevity. Epiticon threads are manufactured using a press-molding method rather than attaching cogs to the thread body. Because the thread body and cogs are integrated, concerns about reduced lifting effects due to cogs dissolving or breaking are reduced. The cogs are also a patented multi-unit structure with bidirectional cogs that enhances tissue traction and fixation.

Q. Will there be significant scarring?

A. Because the procedure involves almost no incisions and uses a syringe-shaped medical device called a cannula, scarring is minimal. To put it simply, there may be procedure marks slightly larger than needle marks, but they gradually fade over time and become less noticeable. If scars remain noticeable over time due to individual variation, scar management programs such as laser treatment can greatly help improve their appearance.

Q. What precautions should I take after surgery?

A. During the first 1–3 days after surgery, even minor impact can cause bleeding and result in a hematoma. Do not be alarmed; gently press the area with clean gauze or tissue for 3 minutes to stop the bleeding. Keep water from entering the surgical area, and avoid chewing hard or tough foods or opening your mouth widely until you have fully recovered. Avoid keeping your head bent forward for long periods. For at least 3–5 days, sleep in a proper position with your head elevated above your heart. We also recommend avoiding alcohol and smoking for about one month after surgery.
