MAMS Surgery & Plastic Surgery's Breast Reduction follows the structural approach below.

A. Planning Based on Base Width, Tissue Density, and Elasticity

• Design according to anatomical structure

Each person has a unique Breast base width (the area of the Breast base located on the chest wall). This is considered to determine the extent to which anatomical reconstruction can be performed. Therefore, the Breast shape that looks beautiful and the minimum size that can be retained differ from person to person.

• Assessment of tissue density using Breast X-ray imaging

• Prediction of body structure through Crisalix (virtual surgery program) analysis

B. Determining a Safe Volume Range to Preserve

The surgical design is created within a safe range that does not compromise blood and lymphatic circulation or tissue tension. Within this range, stability and preservation of sensation are prioritized.

C. Reconstruction with a Three-Dimensional Pattern

A three-dimensional pattern is precisely designed to fit your unique base area. The incision line is not the surgical method, but the “result.” Its length is naturally determined by skin elasticity and the amount of skin to be removed. If the incision is shortened solely to minimize scarring, a non-three-dimensional shape can gradually compromise stability and make it impossible to maintain a stable form over the long term.

At MAMS Surgery & Plastic Surgery, we design using three-dimensional patterns that consider each individual's innate base area, body contours, and overall silhouette. Therefore, even with the same Breast Reduction surgery, incision lengths differ for every patient.

D. Long-Lasting Shape Is the Standard

A long-lasting shape means a structure that securely stabilizes the internal tissues so they do not shift. Through multilayer suturing that leaves no internal dead space and a three-dimensional pattern that restores the anatomical axis, we design a shape that maintains its original contour even as gravity and tension act over time.

Collaborative Surgery

The perspectives and delicate, precise techniques of two surgeons create more refined results than those of one.

This is a structurally divided surgical approach in which Breast surgeon Dr. Bae Jin-hye and plastic surgeon Dr. Shin Seung-han each take full responsibility for their area of expertise.

* Plastic surgeon Dr. Shin Seung-han: Detailed contouring, aesthetic finishing, and precise suturing

When roles are clearly divided, surgery becomes safer and the shape becomes more stable. The average surgery time is 2–3 hours. This is not the result of rushing, but of structural efficiency that avoids unnecessary anesthesia time. Shorter anesthesia time leads to faster recovery.

Why Drains Are Not Needed

Breast Reduction surgery provides the surgeon with a broad surgical field of view.

At MAMS Surgery & Plastic Surgery, precise hemostasis is performed during surgery, and after tissue removal, the area is densely reconstructed with a three-dimensional (3D) pattern. Therefore, there is almost no dead space remaining regardless of the amount removed. This is why drains are not necessary. While the greatest benefit of not having a drain is reduced discomfort, medically it also lowers the risk of infection and allows a return to daily life within a short period, including being able to shower sooner.

Suturing is the final structural design that determines the result.

With American suturing (intradermal suturing) as a principle, skin tension is distributed to minimize scarring, marks from non-absorbable sutures (sutures that require removal) are reduced, and you can shower sooner, which is essential for daily life.

Although it takes somewhat longer during surgery, we choose this approach solely for the best possible outcome.
